    ... off at the
supermarket to stock-up and then continued north to the Valle dei Laghi. We are
still in the Trentino-Alto Adige region and not far from Trento, the principle
city of the region. The mountains are getting higher and the lakes smaller.

The campsite is lovely with stunning views of the rocky peak of La Paganella at 2105 metres high. John has bought a map so we can plan some walks.

So I endured an hour of central Modena with its large Cathedral and cobblestones, before we found ...

... magnificent views of the local Dolomite Mountains and to the snow capped Alps to the North. It was a glorious warm day and we stood for ages taking in the scenery - it is truly a wonderful part of the world!
A glass of wine and a local apple strudel, while viewing all this, made a great afternoon tea and then we caught a cable car down the mountain and back to the city - again with views of Bolzano and the ...

... stare at us when we walk in. Clumsily we go to our table and try and be invisible. There is a table opposite to us that smile and to our surprise speak English, well Irish that we can just understand, so now we have best friends. Max and Stephan (early 60's) explain to us the history of the hotel and region. Max is here to write a book and hopes tomorrow to to read some notes from the vault, not sure what about we couldn't ...
