... we may expect some slight turbulence didn’t help our slumber much either. Any sleep was short-lived anyway as we were awoken at 5:00am (Japan time) for breakfast. It was a bit hard to stomach but we had a pick and were mostly able to keep it down!!!
We touched down into a rainy Narita morning and were given priority through the customs check in because we had a young child with us – hint for travellers; rent a young child to ...

With not much on the agenda for the rest of our trip, we did occasional shopping everyday, not really on a mission to buy anything specific. We found that the Japanese are very trendy and take their fashion very seriously. Everyone was always very well dressed and all the department stores are well stocked up with great quality products and lots and lots of them everywhere.
The weather wasn't so great anymore, being overcasted and raining so we did ...
... is like the difference between weather and climate. Climate is the aggregate outcome of the combined weather of all the days. General characteristics can be formulated, but the exact weather on any given day or at any given moment can vary considerably, thus challenging prediction. And so it is with culture and individuals that make it up. A daily mix of subcultures and whimsical humans defy a black and white picture at the individual level ...
Tokyo, Japan, Kanto, Japan swami_worldtrav... so we took some pictures of iluminated "rainbow bridge" and the "goddess of liberty" (a copy of the statue of liberty).

... It tasted awfully similar to the usual curry blocks my family gets from the Japanese supermarkets, but there is less saltiness and sweetness instead... can't say its the best japanese curry I've had, so hopefully I'll have a chance to try top Japanese curry before I leave in a few days! Climbing out of the underground foodcourt, we set off to the other side of the road in search for more interesting shops and food to peck at. It took about 10 minutes before we ended up at ...
Tokyo, Japan franklin.liu... about whether or not the order was processed because I received an email from Amazon-Japan the day before I left...but seeing as it was in Japanese I did not know if it said that my order was delivered or that my order had been cancelled--fortunately, the order was delivered and I was able to pick up my books without a problem: my first success in Japan without an initial failure). Wanting to take advantage of the gorgeous weather (as I had heard that I was going to be encountering ...
Tokyo, Japan jmbs98... to talk to us but we couldn't understand a word. We kept searching in our guidebook for something we could tell him. He managed to figure out that we wanted noodles, and he sort of shook his head and pointed around. There were pictures of Sumo wrestlers all over. So I guess this place only served food that is typically eaten by Sumos. I had no idea what Sumos eat, but it must be good because they look like they eat a lot of it. The waiter kept ...
Tokyo, Japan linzstoker... I got what I thought was a small loaf of French bread, sealed in plastic. When we opened it up to use it turned out it was cut in half with a thick, hard layer of butter on one side and strawberry jam on the other...weird. Also had trouble buying milk and ended up with homogenized a couple of times instead of 1% like we're used to. But slowly I'm getting used to what to get. There is another store which sells mostly dry goods like a ...
Tokyo, Japan millertime... kerrokseen. Siella meidan oven kohdalla vilkkui punainen valo, joten oikean huoneen loytaminen ei tuottanut ongelmia. Oven avattuamme edessamme oli ensin ihan pieni tuulikaappi, missa oli kahdet sisatossut odottamassa. Riisuimme kenkamme siihen ja astuimme sisaan huoneeseen tossut jalassa. Huone oli oikein valoisa ja tosi siisti. Paaosissa oli tietty iso sanky, johon heti hyppasime makuulle ja kikatimme ihan hervottomasti koko kokemusta. Sanky oli todella pehmea ja ihana, selvasti ...
