and flower garlands were being sold at the rate of knots. The strange thing
was it was mainly young men (hundreds of them); there were hardly any women
only a few who seemed to be in family groups. Trying to find out if this is a celebration
weekend or just the usual Saturday night out for the lads.

The walk then took us into Modern Singapore - past the amazing modern architecture of Esplanade Theatre on a The Bay and down the Marina Promenade to the Helix bridge which leads to across to the enormous Marina Bay Sands precinct, that also includes the Art and Science Museum. I proved yet again ...

... a Chinese man who never stopped taking photos. Why couldn't he just sit back and look? When he leaned over once too often I said "do you mind?". That seemed to shut him up. We stopped off at the Merlion and I joined the many people taking photos. Then we got on the bus and returned to the terminal via the Raffles hotel. Ah, how I remember staying there! There was time for a Singapore Sling before I headed for the departure lounge and the final flight ...
