... a bit too cool, and we could imagine visiting at least once a week should you live in Singapore! An earlier end to the day, though still late on meant we got the MRT back toward the hostel. With not long tomorrow morning before we fly to Jakarta in early afternoon, it's been a nice fitting end to Singapore which we really do adore. Not sure how much more we would have to explore however and we're quite keen to do some exploring on a slightly cheaper level again in Indonesia. Now for some ...

By 2pm we had walked about 3.5km from one side of the gardens to the other, with some zig zagging in the middle to do both of the rainforest walks! It was blaady boiling but most of it was shaded which made it bearable. Its so nice that the locals have somewhere like that to come to just to chill or exercise etc.

After having a little picnic lunch ...

... From the waterfront we wandered through the colonial district to the Raffles Hotel, named after Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles who arrived in 1819 and established the strategically located port city in an effort to keep the Straits of Melaka in the hands of the British Empire. Raffles Hotel was the one thing about the city that has remained the same from my memories of Singapore in 1988. My parents and I visited the iconic hotel, had a seat at the famous Long Bar (it’s not ...
