We drove about 20 km south of Muri to the city of Thun, which is located at the lower end of Lake Thun. They call it the gateway to the Bernese Oberland. Thun is a lake side community, only about 1 km from the shore on the river Aare. The center of the Old Town has a castle that dates back to the 12th century.
