    ... a gaijin to the lady at the counter. I thought I was getting the 'gaijin price' of 5200 yen at first because of the way they were looking at and speaking to each other. I saw the pricing on the wall and it said the same, 5200 yen per night. I couldn't turn on the power for the room lights at first. Some things had power.     ... place (which ended up being cheaper anyway - hurray $60 car rentals!)

    We headed to Tokyo after we were done at the track - the train from Tsukuba stops in Akihabara, and the one train to get to our hotel in Shibuya was down (this apparently doesn't happen often). We ended up taking a cab because we were tired of lugging our bags around, which ended up being ridiculously expensive, and we now know why people take trains everywhere.

    Once 2:00 rolled around and we were able to head to the hotel (which was conveniently across the street from the mall and the train station) we found out that we had been booked into a "smoking room" instead of non-smoking (strike 500 for Travel Masters!) so they had to downgrade us to a twin bed room in their "Annex" hotel, which included gorgeously stained puke-green carpets, paper thin walls and the lingering scent of mould.     ... we boarded the Tokaido line train for Shimbashi, there was an announcement and most of the people got off the train. Owen had to find out from the driver what had happened. Apparently, some one was injured on the line down the track and the train was not going to Shimbashi. We had to change to the Yamanote line. If this were to happen on the Sydney trains, it would stop all the trains. There was no other alternative to change ...

    Final preps done and just relaxing today. Marc giving his last seminar. They are giving us a goodbye party this evening and heading home tomorrow. What a summer it has been and life changing too.
