A taste of Malaysia's heart...without eating it

... and so it is still a good idea to keep moving, as I am told that they are not keen on wind (so a fan is a good tip for extra protection). The problem is that they are extremely good at finding areas that do not have repellent, even an area the size of a pin head, and so largely all you can do is reduce the number of LFB's that bite you, as it is not possible to find full body mozzie repellent showers anywhere, and to cover yourself 100% you would probably ...

The Malaysian Coast and then KL Again

... at Pizza Hut, otherwise the place is kind of quiet. Jon-Jon has become quite the sand artist as this activity is in abundance at the EnCasa as well. But the end of April, for the most part, was spent working and planning our next step. We made one last stop in KL on our way out to do some last minute shopping before we head to Indonesia. We are all looking forward to moving on to a new adventure and Bali sounds just divine! Signing off, - Jon

A Whirl Through Malaysia

... room with a view and just lay around all day drinking the mini-bar dry which was great craic! Then, after a night boat south and a long bus trip we hit the Malaysian island of Penang, which I really liked: lots of atmosphere after Thailand, lots of interesting wee Chinese and Indian streets to wander and a really interesting old house designed on pure feng shui principles, which was fascinating ...

Elephants at Christmas

Today we took a trip to the elephant sanctuary, whislt most people are rushing around trying to find brandy sauce and standing in a turkey queue we headed into the rain forest. Krua is a national park a bit closer to Kuala Lumpur than Taman Negara and is home to baby orphan elephants. There is also a wildlife program which captures rogue elephants on farm land (which sadly was their forest not so long ago) and releases them back into the wild National parks. After ...

... took a long run (i got lost) around the lake in Putrajaya, where I was able to see the largest mosque in Malaysia, one of the royal palaces, and the parliament building. I experienced the all day traffic jam that is downtown KL and the sub arctic temperatures of the ubiquitous mega malls. Tomorrow morning, we are off to visit a few of the 17,000 islands in Indonesia. We will start in Lombok, and the word on the street is that it is paradise....

From not loving it, to amazing in one day!

... back to the guest house I had a completely different outlook on Melaka. I was brushing my teeth on the deck which was the shared bathroom so I was basically outside in Malaysia listening to monks chant in the background. It kind of all hit me there when I was doing something so normal like brushing my teeth but I could look over the balcony at all the houses around us and hear the monks chanting. This is definitely the best thing I've ever done in my life!!

Melaka

Tambien ...
