      ... wet and cold, and there were a dozen or more kafeneion open (a cross between a coffee shop and a bar mostly frequented by men), but somehow I didn’t feel comfortable going in. He was away sufficiently long that we sent put a search party, which found him walking back along the road to the village, tired but very pleased with his achievement.
