... a coconut at a tourist! He now has to be chained when he goes out. He was being washed and was such a magnificent creature. He lay down on the ground for washing and then stood and they kept running the hose into his trunk so he could drink lots of water.

We then went to see some ladies making pictures out of coconut fronds and doing very fine cutting of the leaves with a razor blade.

Putting 2 and 2 together we believed it could be dengue fever which is a mosquito transmitted virus which is quite a problem throughout the world at the moment, so we thought better to be safe than sorry. ... ferry to Alleppey which enabled us to see the larger rivers and the huge area that the backwaters cover. It was a beautiful journey that took all day.
