... oldest amphitheater in the world. Before all the ones we have seen so far! We also saw the minotaurs labyrinth. We never knew that the maze actually was the palace. It was a complicated layout! We then went up the mountain to see Zeus birthplace. It is a cave in the mountains. It represents his mother (rheas) womb apparently. The kids thought it was pretty cool. ... like us.

The Greek food is wonderful but Cretan food even more so. The yogurts at Breakfast were nice and having cucumbers feta olives and tomatoes at every meal is my dream. The tomatoes here are always sweet and tasty.---not sure what is up those US tomatoes that look great and lack flavor. Waiting for the bus back to the port I made friends with a couple of Californians, a guy and a girl. They were headed to Naxos too. The guy was nice (a software engineering hobbyist) but the girl seemed a bit aloof and gave the impression I was an imposition ...

Wow, who knew islands in Greece could keep getting better and better?

We wrapped up in Santorini on 30 June, and headed off to Crete by ferry in the late afternoon. We were met at the port by a lovely lady from Tempo Holidays and two taxis (that drove us the 3 minutes to the hotel). We are staying at the Lato Hotel for our three day stay in Crete. And what a fabulous place this is, central location, close to harbour, port, central shopping ...
