Obersaxen, Switzerland acgwhale... we had caught up on news, we both set off in different directions, we were heading for Italy, and the Stelvio Pass.

Although we stll had the little job of Swiss postcards. We saw a little shop as we turned a corner, and popped in there. We had the rest of the Swiss francs, but we were 20 cents short, the lady in the shop was really kind, and let us off!! How nice the Swiss are!

Landquart, Switzerland dirtyweekenders... me that it was very painful. 'Well that doesn't matter' I replied, 'They are for him!!' Of course the other half of the team was blissfully unaware of his forthcoming pain until the cuffs were snapped on, and the policeman took a good grip on the handcuffs ready for the photo!!
What a coup, we could hardly believe it.

So out of Vaduz, and travelling on to Switzerland.
Vaduz, Vaduz, Liechtenstein dirtyweekenders... the pedestrian street. I also stopped for a bite to eat in a small kebab eatery.

On the bus back to Sargans, I got off at a stop in Balzers so I could check out another castle - the one we passed on the bus journey to Vaduz. This one is also a private one, it turns out, so I couldn't go inside it either. It sits on top of a steep hill wrapped in vineyards. I walked around a bit until another bus came along and headed back to Sargans.
Vaduz, Liechtenstein travelingdivaMatt and I couldn't find a place to stay in the vicinity of where we wanted to be Sunday night, so instead we based out of Luzern for the rest of our time, and took the train Monday into the little country of Lichtenstein. It was a gorgeous day! We had to take the train to Sargans (still in Swiss), then hop a bus across the border to Vaduz, the capital of Lichtenstein. Our first stop was to the tourist office, to get our "official stamp" in our passports ...
Vaduz, Liechtenstein elizabessieAfter our day off we next went by train down along the Rhine Valley past the Canton of Appenzelle and the Finance Capital, Vaduz in Leichenstein. Vaduz and the Principality lies high on the side of the mountain which forms the border with Austria. Apart from the distant mountains this part of our journeys was I should say the least striking in scenic wonderment!!
Vaduz, Vaduz, Liechtenstein ankorjuglor... the lake high up above Chur. We were in the clouds! It rained quite profusely! Our planned walk into the forest above this wee town curtailed by lack of visibility. A lunch snack at the nearest restaurant and the next train down was our only reasonable option. After a very short wait we boarded what I think was the same carriage we had come up in, then off down the fairly steep descent to the streets of Chur. At the City Gate ...
Chur, Graubünden, Switzerland ankorjuglorOn our return from Poschiavo to Chur the train took the alternative route via St Moritz. A very short stop, enough to allow us to stretch our legs beside the picturesque Lake Engadine. This lake is famous for its winter Polo and Horse Racing. Quite a spectacle for winter visitors ...
St. Moritz, Graubünden, Switzerland ankorjuglor... What a view! I wish I could afford to live here. As it is, I’m sure the only reason we came is because it’s the 'off’ season.

Switzerland is one of the most expensive countries in Europe, so you know just how expensive it must be to live in St. Moritz. We took a little stroll through town before we had lunch and after lunch we did a bit more sightseeing, while the Others (Shirley & company) went shopping. As in Lucerne, you find a new and big (or ...
St. Moritz, Swiss Alps, Switzerland pemalak8/28/99 Saturday

Zurich to Davos

We arrived in Davos (the Hotel Europe, a 4 star hotel) at 12:37 pm. Davos is much bigger than I had expected. It looks like it would be easy to get lost, but the view is spectacular.

We had a get together dinner at 6 p.m. On our way down to dinner, we heard someone knocking on their door from the inside. Sure enough, it was Shirley. Seems that their door lock was stuck and they couldn't get out. We had to get the hotel ...
