... to expect of the tour, but were extremely surprised with how detailed and entertaining it was. Immediately entering the tour, we were given miners clothes to put on. Then there was a large room with extra large pictures of the mine throughout the centuries and what life was like to be apart of it. Our tour guide then walked us 300 meters (nearly 1000 feet) into the mine through a deep tunnel in the mountain. We learned all about how the salt was deposited billions of years ago when a ...

... rocky. The drive from the Austrian autobahn through the valley with several large lakes was beautiful. It took about two and half hours to make the drive from Melk to Hallstatt with a stop for a picnic lunch.

We we arrived at the Resort Obertraun just five kilometers from Hallstatt. We were surprised upon check-in that a significant booking fee was included for Hotels in Hallstatt. Ouch! Lesson learned, read the fine print on hotel reservations. We found our chalet ...

... Luckily I brought a little flashlight. I used my tablet light to find the suitcase. If I hadn't been on the tablet, we might still be fumbling around blind LOL
Got in touch with reception and she seemed befuddled. The lights were on in the hall??? She got the power on for about 30 seconds and then it was off again. I think we're ok now.
We will spend most of the morning here tomorrow and then it is ferry + train to ...
