... other varieties seem to be popping up all over Salzburg - the kids love em!) to see the gazebo. I got a better picture of it this time. All in all, we covered a lot of ground, as the church they were married in was quite a way out of town. Made for a good lunch stop and enjoying the incredible countryside. It really is spectacular. At the end of the tour, we went into Mirabell Palace Gardens (final scene for Do, Re, Mi). The gardens are spectacular. Archbishops were the ...

... they consider this area to be German as far as booking goes. Got myself oriented to the city and the countryside. One of our stops was Hellbrun Palace, and had a wee look at the grounds and the gazebo from the Sound of Music. This entry is coming one day late because somehow my post from yesterday got lost in the virtual world - not sure if I am in love with travelpod so far, but I suppose it will do. :) So, yesterday! The train is very crowded and finding room to store our luggage was a problem. The seating was quite comfortable so we settled back for our 6-1/2 hour journey

When we were about a 1/2 hour out of Salzburg we were hit by a snow storm. When we arrived at ...

Salzburg has been the most naturally beautiful place we have
been to so far. The Alps are beautiful and we got our first sighting of them on
the way from Munich to Salzburg (which was our first experience with a train
where only half the carriages go to the final stop, meaning a quick run to
another, very packed carriage to Salzburg).

The first thing we did was go to the Hohensalzburg (High salt) fortress. This
is up on a hill which ...
