... Kaunertal, which is actually just the name of the glacier. We made our way to our hostel, and found out we were actually in an apartment-like room! We had our own kitchen, living room area, and we even had a balcony that overlooked the town and the mountains in the background! It was fabulous. (Or just fab as Rachel would say!) We settled in nicely and set out to find a little supermarket so that we could make our own food. By this point, while ...

Finally I reach the town of Stelvio which is just like many towns in this neck of the world with very narrow streets making their way between the wonderful painted up buildings.

I turn up right and this is me now on the climb up Stelvio pass. This road up is extremely narrow and must have about 30 or so hairpin bends. With it being so narrow one has to be extremely careful not to go out too far on the ...

... emotion, exhilaration, wonderment and awe, etc (as well as sheer bloody relief!) that I felt when I had done it and reached the top.

One of the positives of walking (and running!) is that a cup of coffee (glass of wine!) tastes so much better when you’ve worked so hard for it. A hot shower at the end of a long, hot sweaty day is appreciated so much – just imagine how wonderful one will feel after 6 days camping in Nepal!

      Friday 29 August

Stayed around the campsite throughout the morning reading
a good book. A short local walk in the afternoon but managed to catch a bus
that took us right back to our start point rather than taking us further up the
valley side. Gave up in disgust, had a cup of tea and carried on with the good
      book.
