    Day 214: To the airport!

A travel blog entry by adventurenonni on Feb 19, 2014

This morning I woke up at around 10am. Marc has a really comfy couch and I always have great sleeps on it. His place is so cute and nice. I really like it here. Feels a bit like home. We prepared an amazing breakfast of soft boiled eggs, left over spetzle, dolmades, olives, fresh bread, mustard, cashew and capsicum dip, strawberries and pears. We were both so full afterwards. It was so good! Marc then drove me to the train station to catch the 2:30pm train from Berlin ...

Day 213: slumber party at Marc's place

Today I spent the day packing my things and waiting for Paul to get home so that I could talk to him and make sure he arrived home safely. He got in at about 1130am Berlin time. He had a pretty good flight and slept for the last leg which was good. I spoke to him in the car driving home to the mountains. After our conversation I Scrubbed the bathroom, oven, kitchen, balcony, made a chocolate cake which I ate entirely by myself and ...

Day 212: a sad, sad day

Today Paul left berlin to fly back home. This was by far the hardest day of the whole trip. I miss him so much already. We have had such a great time together and as much as I am happy for him, I am also so sad to see him go. We didn't get much sleep as Paul was being Paul and packing his bag again and making sure it was the correct weight. We ended up going to sleep at about 12:30 and had to get up at 2am to catch 4 busses to the airport. It was an emotional ...

... where he worked for ten years and what happens inside the Messe Berlin fair grounds. This place is enormous and has some interesting history to it. It was designed by Albert Speer in 1936 for Hitler and was home to much footage from "Olympia," the controversial documentary directed by German film maker and Nazi sympathiser Leni Riefenstahl. I was told that some of the fair grounds were home to the Berlin Olympics too. Here's some more info on this ...

    Day 140... It's snowing!

Last night it began to snow, and this morning we woke up to very strong winds and snow everywhere! Yay German snow! It was so exciting for both of us to watch and it was a great distraction from my aches and pains. Apparently the north of Germany today experienced some of the strongest winds in many many years and they were having trouble with pieces of houses flying away and trees falling down. There was also some ...
