... of a walk to the Abbey Melk, the glass blocks in the road lead the way, blue leads to glad. Quite a few stairs, not too much for us but in the summer it would not be fun. At the Abbey we waited about 15 minutes for our Abbey guide and then we started our tour. Interesting that the Abbey Melk is still a functioning Benedictine monastery and also a "private" ...

... at the village of Melk. We did not take the organised tour but rather opted to take a walk into Melk to see the sights at our own pace. The place is very old but has been maintained to preserve the history, including the main attraction, the Melk Abbey. Returning to the boat about 5.20pm with a beautiful sunset over the Danube River. Dinner tonight was in the guest dining room with a special 5 course menu prepared for 24 guests. Very nice and make us feel special without being over ...

Of course a few gruesome stories must accompany such a place. It contains the tomb of Saint Coloman of Stockerau who, as the story goes, came from Ireland after forsaking all worldly goods in order to make a pilgrimage. When he arrived at the Austrian border, he was declared ...

... circle and back to the boat to relax before a big night. Apparently the staff are putting on a show so that will be fun as you get to know them and their personalities. Should be interesting and they are putting on full seafood dinner. Well dinner was suburb and the entertainment was very basic but lots of fun! Everyone was dancing so turned out to be a great evening especially after a very bad day weather ...
