Cheryl and I were up early on Sunday morning. We each packed an overnight backpack, grabbed some breakfast (same great food and same ****** music), stored our luggage (we were returning to Vienna on Monday), checked out of our hotel and were on a train to Melk (in the Waccau Valley) by 8:30. Just over one hour later, we were standing on the …

... The museum portion was quite interesting giving a sort of visual timeline of the Catholic Church. In the photos, you,lol see a cross that is of the 1300's & represents a Greco-Roman perspective which stresses more the divinity of Jesus (surrender, peace) than whe baroque period to follow which became both more ornate and focused more acutely on his humanity (pain, suffering). Benedict tried to make ...

Mind you, we weren't convinced that the cabbie even had us in the right place but MUCH more important were the brand new, incredibly comfortable and expensive Vivier sandals that were seeing only their second outing - no way was I ruining them for such a stupid thing. So, from the car I called the restaurant and asked them which they'd ...

I woke up at 6 and headed to the lounge to type. I like sitting up there in my robe with no one else up. I felt much better this morning. Had a cup of cocoa and cookie. (There is a tiered tray of cookies that are out in the lounge at all times. Baked fresh by the pastry chef daily. He makes the most perfect shortbread cookie.)Too early for Bob to get up! It was a lazy morning for us. The walking tour of Durnstein was not scheduled until ten. Bruce and Pawp planned to sleep ...

The Folan sisters (by the way the staff now calls us "the sisters") were off to explore bright and early. We docked at Durnstein.....a small quaint town at the curve in the Danube. The ruins of the Castle where Ric*************heart was imprisoned for at least a million years is located here. Maureen said she thinks she saw him in a picture she took. It was so so cold (actually only in the ...
