the baggage one is already carrying. And speaking of carrying things, we could
not resist going a little wild in the Chouf Shop, a store carrying an amazing
array of products featuring the cute elves that are the mascots of the Chouf
brewery across the street. We even broke down and bought Chouf glasses for our
Mt. Hood cabin – hoping they don’t have their own breakdown on the long trip

... Munich people a bit stand-offish! Our plans are to hit the hotel, relax for a while and then, hit the Hoffbrahaus!!!
We did just that. Hoffbrahaus was truly only 10 minutes away from our hotel. Nice, but chilly walk. We were here 40 years ago, but it was a bit more rustic and less commercialized. But it was still the Hoffbrahaus in Munich, Germany. As usual, they had an "oompa band" playing great German and Bavarian songs, and ...
... hours so Pete did get to sleep, though not under his hat, it was banished until Krakow.
Our friend Liz met us at Munich airport, she and I had similar jobs in Singapore and we’ve been friends since then, now living in Munich so it was a good chance to get together for a few hours. Oktoberfest started this weekend so we spent maybe an hour wandering around this huge area with tens of thousands of visitors just milling around ...
... the road to the site of the Munich Olympic stadium and Olympic village. We took the lift to the top of the Olympic viewing tower from where we had a good view of the park, the stadiums and the village. Quite futuristic considering when the last Munich Olympics were held. The complex is also in tip top shape which is more than I can say for some of the Olympic stadiums we have seen.

... the day in town we went home for a bit to relax but then headed into town again not long after to meet Mum, D, Fraser and Elyse for dinner. Saturday was Chris's birthday. We started off the day by cooking up a big breakfast of bacon and eggs. We then got all dressed up in our costumes and ready to hit october fest.
