The road to Lucerne began with a crash! I dropped our camera and broke the telephoto lens which was extended at the time. The local photo shop described the brand new Nikon as "kaputt" - Arg!! That said, we took a leisurely, picturesque train ride to from Appenzell to Lucerne.
Arriving in Lucerne Station, we went to the very Americanesque …
We had an easier day today. We stayed in bed until 08:30 and moseyed down to breakfast. The first trip of the day was at 10:00. This was to Engelberg for a "Be My Guest" experience. We took a horse and buggy ride through the town which was followed by a cheese and meat tasting. There were several types of cheese. It was interesting to taste two …

The room in the Renaissance in Lucerne is not as large as that in other hotels that we have stayed in. It is still a good size and has a king size bed and separate bathroom. We are here for two nights.
The breakfasts have been excellent. We both went back for second courses.
