    ... drove; it's "Germany's Medieval heartland"). We had a good chuckle because it doesn't seem to matter where we go, Joe always finds the end of some road! From there, we headed to the banks of the Lech River and viewed the area where rafters and fishermen lived and worked. Interestingly, Mr. Steve's book pointed out that rafters in the 1500's would take cargo from Italy on it's way to Germany. They'd build massive rafts here and take goods and people to Augsburg! ...

    Once we finished with his boyhood home, we headed up a very steep 30-minute hike to get to his fairytale castle, Neuschwanstein! While the first castle was beautiful but not extravagant, the parts of this castle that were finished were astounding opulent!     ... t be too careful. 30,000 police were bought in from across the boarder in Germany & Italy. Once through the barriers were proceeded into the country settlement of Seefeld a beautiful place.     ... of course with gilded work and murals but just perfect if you had to live in a castle. The second castle was Neuchwanstein, the fairy tale castle. This was also built by King Ludwig 2 as a getaway but was much bigger and in a very different style. It was beautiful but very dark inside. Looks magical from the outside.
