Yay for dietary requirements! We've been fed terrible thick bum sandwiches so I switched to lactose free diet for the rest of the trip. There are two gluten free and two vegetarians on the trip and now I've joined their ranks. What this means is I get salads for lunch instead of horrible sandwiches. We have been fed so much bread on this trip that all of us are just sick of it. And so ...

Anyway Plan B was to drive to Eagles Nest, Hitlers hideaway, in the Alps. If it was still awful weather we'd just find a nice place to have lunch and head home again. After packing this morning we popped out for breakfast before heading off to Kufstein in Austria The road wound through some spectacular alpine country, passing by Zugspitz, Germany's highest mountain. Every holiday maker seemed to be taking to the road as many RV's and caravans passed us going in the opposite direction. Many motor bike riders were out for a ride as well. The road eventually flattened out onto the autobahn where ...

Literally. The past few weekends all the cows and goats are being brought down from the high pastures where they have been grazing for the summer. It's a pretty big deal in the villages - called Almabtried - and the usually Saturday market is ramped up to include traditional music, crafts, and an extra selection of beer, schnapps, sausage, cheese and bread (can you hear my gut gurgle!). The best thing is how the cows are celebrated - totally decked out with elaborate flowers, ...

Not very exciting for the non-golfers but today we went to the lovely nearby village of Goldegg to play golf. The weather was perfect and the course was just beautiful. If you're not a golfer just enjoy the pictures. It was also completely quiet, except for the sound of one cow bell in the next field.

          After golf we ...
