After a week in Basel we jumped on the train to visit my Uncle and Aunt (Heinz and Elsa) in Gossau – a small town in the north east of Switzerland. On the way we spent a few hours in Zurich where we just wandered around the city centre, had lunch and sat by the lake. Heinz and Elsa met us at the train station and walked us back to their place – about 2 minutes away! They took us for a drive up to a place which gives a great view over St Gallen ...

Seit ein paar Jahren steht ausserhalb des Städtchens Europas grösste Modelleisenbahn der Spur 0. Im September findet der Schweizerische Photoflohmarkt statt. Auf diesen Flohmarkt sind wir heute durch Zufall gestossen, wie man auf den Bildern unschwer erkennen kann.

What a coup, we could hardly believe it.

So out of Vaduz, and travelling on to Switzerland.

... They had pulled up in the car park by a Land Rover Service Partner, but being Sunday, there was no possibility of a repair there. It was on the way we needed to go, so we set off together, hoping both of the sick motors would make it.

We kept the speeds down, and successfully followed the roadbook along the edge of Bodensee. Charlotte and I were able to get a few of the bingo card photos that we needed. There was some really good scenery, all along ...

Our third stop of the day was our first in Austria. Now I was entering undiscovered lands! Feldkirch is right on the Switzerland border. The old town centre is surrounded by towers, and a castle sits on a hill above.

... weren't too interested so they took Lincoln (who couldn't go with us) and we went to have a look. It was a rewarding visit. It is amazing to think how long ago some of those books and transcripts were written, and how well cared for they must be to remain in excellent condition. The library itself is breathtaking, with leather bound books lining the shelves, large windows (no doubt filtered), elaborate woodwork and staircases, and a muraled ceiling ...

OK, last night here, it has been great. Big meal cooked, trip to chocolate factory and got some swiss chocolate yummm. Just good night with Vince, Ben , and Heike. To Paris in morning, my host there is leaving and will leave a key. I will be staying with 4 girls from 2 other countries. I will get the big room, which works for me, well until Kevin gets home on Tuesday. Talk soon, Beverly
