Then onto a Salsa club with much dancing and knocking people out the way. A very naughty trouble maker.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hope everyone is having a great time eating turkey and watching football back home :). I'm in a country where we aren't subjected to the awful sport of football fortunately. Unfortunately they don't typically celebrate Thanksgiving either. Luckily I am reasonably close to one of my best friends from the states and we were able to celebrate turkey day in typical American fashion. This morning I travelled for 4 hours by train to ...

... part of it, and of course it's incredibly beautiful. Michael Schumacher, the retired Formula 1 driver has an estate on the lake just up from Nyon in Gland, and his wife has a large horse stable up the hillside that we passed last evening not far from Trélex. Phil Collins lives in nearby Féchy (his third wife was Swiss, they’ve since separated), Shania Twain lives in Corseaux on Lake Geneva, Nana Mouskouri lives in Geneva. Other celebrities live in other parts of Switzerland ...

... area about 5 minutes outside of town that she takes the dogs to. It is a huge farm and there is a road that winds all the way around it. It took about an hour to walk the length of the road. The dogs love it. It was a bit chilly, especially when the wind was blowing. Conrad had to stop and feed some cows. It was fun to play with the dogs.

When we got back to the car, we went to see a waterfall. It was a ...

City in the trees

Of course I needed to visit Luxembourg, hiding away there between France, Germany and Belgium. It is the fifith smallest country in the world. It is very hilly and surrounded by trees. The hostel is down at the bottom of a cliff, yay! The city of course is quite small, but it is surrounded by ruins and forest which makes it quite a unique city in amongst the hustle and crowds of all the other major cities. The people there speak French and their own language, Luxembourgish I suppose.

My first day in Luxembourg

... person who found the surprise would be crowned queen for 24 hours. My slice had the surprise (a little porcelain gingerbread man), so Maga gave me a crown and we all had a good laugh about me wearing that. Otherwise, we just talked to Maga, walked around Bettemburg so she could show us how to get to the train station, and drank tea. She also continued to try feeding us that night, including practically force feeding us more of her pizza, chocolate mousse, and truffles. Whew ...

... every other old city in a way, beautiful old buildings together with winding roads and quant little shops and the occasional kebab window shop. Things started getting exciting as we headed to the valleys towards these bridges and strongholds. We discovered a place called the Casemates which took us inside the walls of these valleys where in mid evil times were used as defense barracks against intruders. The walls were really many corridors and stairs running through ...

July 15

(Val) After enjoying our roll with cheese and nutella (not at the same time), we headed out to stroll around the city of Luxemburg. It appears the old city was walled at the edge of a gorge. There were also many pedestrian streets. We strolled around and returned to the hotel to check out by 11:00 am. We had to make our way to Munich, so we could board the overnight train to Prague, Czech Republic. We had a nice train ride along the Rhine River and saw many neat ...

... Casemates - tunnels and chambers dug to further fortify Luxembourg city. Saw Notre Dame church and walked along the park at the bottom of the valley where we found an old church built into the side of the hill. Luxembourg is a beautiful medieval valley.
