Getting up at 3:00 am is not nice, but the highway to the airport was empty. Checking in with Air Berlin was a new experience, but not quite positively. All information that we had keyed in for the online check in was irrelevant, we had to give them the complete information again. Arriving in Düsseldorf was no problem, up in the air and back down again. We had a 2.5 hour layover so we were able to fill our stomachs with a decent breakfast. Air Berlin had another check ...

I bought porridge and honey yesterday. I thought of it before but I'd only seen the pre portioned expensive porridge which I won't buy. I found normal, cheap porridge oats for only €0,39. That's seven or eight portions working out to about six cent per portion. Add some honey and gas and it'll probably come to about €0.25 a portion. Well enough about cheap breakfast. I have to tell you about my mattress, how it's perfect ...

... I won't throw away my old one until I'm sure this one is good. I head north, direction Lauenburg. As I leave the city, I feel there isn't much energy left for a long hike. When I see a patch of unmaintained grass close to a construction site, I put up my tent just so it's very hard to see from the road. Tonight I'll be testing my new mattress. It's not long before my tent is covered with red ants. Bummer, I cook very fast close the tent and hope for the ...

I wake up early with a mission. I want to get as close to Lüneburg as possible. I have breakfast, break up camp and start hitting the road. This is the route I'm taking: Jesteburg, Hanstedt, Garlstorf, Salzhausen, Westergellersen. It's beautiful walk. I take regular stops and even have a proper siesta. When I put up camp between Westergellersen and Kirchgellersen, there's only 14 kilometre left to Lüneburg. I can do that ...

... map and compass, I'm not always exactly where I think I am but as long a I know which direction I need to take to get me where a want to be I'm fine. Where you would micromanage every street when you navigate with satnav. It's not long before I have to turn right to the B3 to avoid going into Hamburg. Now I just have to follow the B3 towards Soltau. About twenty kilometres further I go left towards Buchholz. As I'm walking the final eight kilometre, a car stops out of the blue. ...
