Jalan Melasti, Kuta (Legian Beach) Legian, Bali, Indonesia, 80361

Once we finally got off the bus for good, we were joined by a Korean man that was looking to share a taxi to Kuta. The taxis around the bus terminal were all asking for 150,000 Rp, which we knew was way too much (thanks to the Indonesian woman on the bus.) They would not agree to use meters, so the three of us started walking out down the street in front of the terminal. It took about 10 minutes and a half dozen inquires with taxi drivers before we finally found one that agreed to use his met...
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia aaronpolarbearIndonesia!! We arrive at the Denpasar airport to Balinese music (chimes, bells and twangs), the thickest humidity we have ever experienced and many many smiles. We are greeted as if our arrival was expected, long over due, and we are all long lost friends. We are staying at the Sayang Hotel, which is in Legian, Bali (very nice part of Bali away from the busy Kuta region - if you look at the Bali Map, its the little narrow piece of land on the south of the island. Its a lovely hotel - Very cle...
Legian, Indonesia alohatravelsAh Jesus! This is wrecking me buzz! I have been to a couple of places in between here and the last entry, but it takes too long to update this yoke. I will do it up properly at some stage. When I'm in the same place for at least a week (cos it'll take that long), and I have absolutely nothing else to do. At all.

Ubud, Bali, Indonesia klara-vince Firstly, I owe my mother an apology. I made a promise to her that I did not keep – but more on that later!
There really isn't a lot to do around the Kuta/Legian, and there wasn’t much point in venturing further when I know that Alan will want to have a look around Bali. So this is the time to recharge, relax (yeah, I know – that’s ALL I’ve been doing!) and enjoy swimming in a freshwater pool! Oh yeah – and to get my laundry done.
After a few ...
Well, so far Asia is absolutely mindblowing!!!!! I did not expect to be half as content with my trip as I actually am. Whoever can should come here and experience a culture that sadly is changing due to tourism and globalization but at the same time is trying to keep its ways. Basically, the last night in Singapore we pulled an all nighter with my uncle. There was one main reason for this. Italy played at 2:45 local time. Of coruse I did not know they were going to lose 3-0 and form that day ...
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia mambo_italiano
... like the middle of nowhere and every time we left the vehicle there was someone trying to sell us their wares and they don't easily take no for an answer. As we continued our new found adrenaline sport - being driven around the chaotic Bali roads - we were continuously amazed by how much stuff can be carried on an ordinary motorbike - from six bags of rubbish to a head high pile of bananas (plus two adults and a toddler) to a wheelbarrow of all things. Amazingly, given ...
Legian, Bali, Indonesia scruffyandco... we were warned off. 45 mins later up turned 2 Ham Burgers and two Big Mc meals with cold soggy chips. MMMMMMM. When we made it out of Bed we were giving then Surfing another go but it took on a whole new dimension when the waves were 6ft high and packed full of people. We decided to get out of no mans land and go out the back with the real surfers. Clive gets a wave and just as he goes to stand up he has to pull out as he ...
Bali, Indonesia cccd... away, and I saw something like a moon in the rice field. What's that? I was thinking maybe somebody come to put a lamp, but I was not thinking about magic power, just walking. And then when I was not so far, then it was more big. I was not thinking about magic again, thinking maybe lamp, and then walked again. And then ten meters away, it's very big! More than one meter. I was confused. I wanted to look close, and then I'm five meters away, and it's still big ...
Ubud, Indonesia sherwoodk... grouper, lobsters, crab...yum! We enjoyed a few of these romantic meals on the beach. There are a lot of nice resorts on Jimbaran Beach, also. My cousin Josh was recently married on this beach, his wife is from Jakarta and they're opening a restaurant there. Doesn't look like we'll get to see them this trip, but instead in the magical city of Fairbanks, Alaska :) when they return for a visit ...
