    ... for, to get away from the main routes to see some delightful countryside, with the farms and small villages sprinkled through the forest. The best driving we have had on the trip so far. I can thoroughly recommend the road through Tolg and Asa up to Landsbro.
    All too soon we were in Eskjo checking in at an old hotel to get the key for our address several hundred metres away and then as the weather has been playing ball all day, to the picnic "dinner" of bread rolls at the local ...

    ... delicious food, drinking Swedish Snaps, working on puzzles, and watching the sun set. It was a lovely vacation and a very special midsummer celebration for us.

    Many new recipes from Sweden were added to our sabbatical recipe book and each one will bring back wonderful memories of times cooking, laughing and drinking wine together with our new Swedish family! We hope we can come back and celebrate another Swedish ...

    ... War II, walked by Napoleon's Tomb, went up in the Eiffel Tower and stood under the Arc de Triomphe Katie has a lot more information to add to her growing time line. Soon she will be learning about the Vikings and adding them to the time line as well as the important dates of when our ancestors migrated to America.

    But first, it is time for fika and then a night out to celebrate Bo and Helene's 25th wedding anniversary!

    ... Gothenburg. Here too at Borensberg is a hotel in a lovely setting where we thought we might get an early table for lunch. But no such luck. Booked out. Apparently it is Mother's Day here today! Who would have known, but later in the day we saw a queue outside a florist shop. At 6pm some obviously thought it was not too late.

    As we travel across Sweden on our train, it has started to snow. It is coming down sideways and is heavy at some points. We are cosy inside. I think we are the only ones excited by the glimpse of the snow out the windows... Half way to Malmo the snow is thicker and making the forests of Christmas trees look just perfect. It is exciting to see the first snow in our European holiday. The little villages along the way look cold and isolated though and I am unsure how they ...
