A cool Rocco Forte Florence luxury hotel

When searching for top Florence luxury hotels , I highly recommend using the Luxique website. Their service has no booking fees and they give excellent unbiased advice. That aside, I can only praise the Hotel Savoy that was suggested as a top pick. The hotel boast spectacular rooms and attentive staff with a concierge that can get you reservations to just about anywhere. The views of the Renaissance city of Dante, Donatello, Botticelli, Michelangelo and Machiavelli are just stunning, and the ...

Historical Traveler Reviews of Hotel Savoy Florence

Worst Stay Ever

from A TripAdvisor Member
I had just about the worst hotel stay Ive ever had at a supposedly "luxury" hotel. THe staff were rude and aloof, completely unattentive.

THe amenities were poor (1 elevator, etc.) and the room was mediocre.

But i must say, it has a great location

Amazing Hotel Experience

from A TripAdvisor Member
Sorry to be redundant with all the other reviews here, but it's true - The Hotel Savoy is amazing! We were greeted at this elegant hotel by extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. The rooms are beautifully and tastefully decorated with all the comforts one could expect. The location is ideal - with every interesting site, shopping and restaurants within an easy walking distance. We will definitely return to the Savoy the next time we are in Florence!

Great Hotel

It's very hard for me to say that it's the best hotel I've ever stayed, however it is the best hotel during my trip to Italy (I also stayed places in Rome and Venice) that is not comparable to the Savoy. The Good: - It is in the heart of Florence a walking distance from all the major attractions (Duomo, Uffizi, Accademia) and restaurants (ask the concierge) - The staff was better than the staff in Rome and Venice. They upgraded us to a bigger room that included a small living room area, included walk in closets, and another perk were speakers in the bathroom (I could listen to the radio, news or MTV while taking a long bath). - Concierge was very helpful. We tried to go the Uffizi one day, however it had a very long time. Concierge then reserved us tickets for the following day and we walked right in with no wait. They booked our train to Rome and answered all our annonying tourist questions =) - Free use of business center (internet access)The bad:- Breakfast is not included. That would have been a plus. - It is noisy at times. They should try insulating their windows to keep the street noise down. - Our room was located right next to the elevator, therefore it gets annoying late in the night when you are trying to sleep. (request for a room away from the elevator and steps).

Excellent hotel

This is an excellent hotel in all respects. Best location in Florence.

We stayed for a week and had a view of the Duomo from our window.

Consierge was terrific and made reservations at excellent restaurants (his picks were better than the guide books and reasonable). Everyone was friendly, free internet access and about the same price as a Marriott in the US (210 euros, but this was off-season). The restaurant in the hotel was good, but very expensive.

La Creme de la Creme

Wow! Location, Location, Location! I had a faboulous time in Florence and the Hotel Savoy helped make it a pleasurable stay. From the minute I walked in they were so helpful and courteous and very personable. The concierge was also very eager to help and recommended a FABOULOUS restaurant. I love Florence and absolutely loved Hotel Savoy. I highly recommend it!

Loved the Savoy

from joeyrm7
The title says it all. We loved the Savoy. The location is superb, the staff friendly and very helpful. My baggage was lost by the airline and the Savoy staff stayed on top of the situation until my bag was delivered to the hotel. We were in Florence during the heat wave and I will testify that their airconditioning lives up to U.S. standards. I could not say that about some of the other hotels that we stayed in.

Look for their internet special rates as it is much cheaper than the rack rate and makes it inexpensive for a 5 star hotel.

The Best of the Best

from wanttotravella
I stayed at the Hotel Savoy in Aug. 2003. This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. Not only are the rooms elegantly done, so are ALL common areas. They have free internet access in the Business Room to be used by all hotel guests.

Everyone at this hotel was extremely gracious and helpful. Giovanni, the doorman went out of his way to help us with directions and what to do in the City.

You really can't beat the location. Its right in the middle of the City. You have the beautiful Piazza Republica right at your doorstep.

And the Duomo is 2 minutes away.

I absolutely LOVED this hotel and would definitely return. I would never think of staying anywhere else while in Florence.

Couldn't be better

Just returned from Florence, Italy where I stayed at the Savoy hotel. Couldn't beat the location, couldn't beat the staff who attended to every detail with a smile. The concierge staff was top notch. Rooms are clean and well maintained. Good amenities, and lovely modern ambience. Can't praise it enough. It does get noisy though since it's in such a central location in the Piazza della Repubblica.

Great Hotel, walking distance to all

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at the Savoy in January. I was an absolutely stunning hotel. Service was impeccable. The price (220 euros) I thought was reasonable for that nice of accomodations. It is also very close, ie five minute walk to Uffizi, Academy, Duomo, etc.

Lives up to its billing

from thranx
If you're looking for the best in Florence, it would be hard to top the Savoy. A member of the Leading Hotels of the World, this recently upgraded Forte property sits right on the Piazza della Republicca smack in the center of town. It's only a few minutes walk to the Cathedral, the Uffizi, etc.

I spent six days there in October. Twice a day maid service, marble bathrooms (in all rooms), real king beds...what you'd expect, and more. Superb staff. Ran into John Malkovitch in the lobby. Definitely worth the money...if you've got lots of it, or can find a deal.

One caveat: also as expected, the hotel restaurant is twice as expensive as the equivalent restaurants in the area. For the best bargain in decent food, try the Grotto Guelphi across the piazza and half a block down.

The best gelato I ate in Italy is at Vivoli, a few blocks away but a little difficult to find.
