They brought us to a camping in barcelonnette. Our first Italian lesson: tranquillo whick means teak it easy. We stayed for two days to rest. It was a really nice village were we had an amazing meal at a small restaurant. Love enea and ...

My preference was then to hang a left and go back towards La Tour, and pick up our carefully planned route, and the one which our guide book recommends. However the stoker and the proprietor convince me that it's better to take the M6202. ... hour ahead of the estimated time for the slowest rider. Timing stops at this point for the descent, and I seem to be ahead of my usual riding buddies, so I take my time to eat and much as I can, plus a couple of energy gels for good measure then head off to tackle the hairy descent. It's not too bad - like Cotter Rd when the road works were being done. Just there is 21km and a fair few switchbacks to handle. At least the blokes aren't ...

    ... sense of accomplishment.

We continued our descent into Saint Dalmas Le Seivage, (at 4,500 Feet) and while the village looked inhabited, there was no one around. Where was everyone? We later discovered that from about 2 to 4 or 5 pm) everyone was in their homes having lunch and resting. There was nothing of interst that we could see, so continued on our way, making our second ascent of the day ...
