    Now, I give you the tip....Treas was seriously packing it! Seriously!
    And I must admit, it was a bloody long way down, with absolutely nothing between us and the specks at the bottom that must have been houses....

    Technically we should be in Guillestre this evening, but the nearest accommodation we could book is just up the road from there, in a small village called Risoul.     ... shades.

    We walked down to the modern part of the town to the L'Eclerc, to buy provisions for our stay as we found ourselves in a self-catering apartment. Who can resist a French supermarket? This one had a good selection of bike spares too. We bought porridge for breakfast, some tea and a few other treats to keep us going.

    ... A few cyclists passed us on the way to the top. It's a fairly constant 7% for the whole 12 km. At the top of every col so far there has been someone who has offered to take a photo for us, Col du Télégraphe was no exception.

    We donned an extra layer and enjoyed a smooth ride down to Valloire, where we found a patisserie that would easily accommodate our bike without a lot of faffing around, and offered some outside tables in the sun.

    Climbing the Col de l'Iseran

    Once out of Val D'Isere you start the climb to the Col de l'Iseran. It was a relief to get out of the village and into the open landscape.
