... the Twelve Apostles, huge natural pillars of rock soaring out of the sea. It reminded us a little of Wulingyuan in China, only surrounded by water. I guess we are cursed when it comes to great views and weather!
We are now making our way to Sydney along the coast, camping along the way. Tonight we are in the wonderfully-named village of Seaspray, part of Ninety Mile Beach, which is exactly as the name suggests. We are still yet to put a shrimp on the Barbie but maybe tomorrow!
As far as I could see in one short afternoon, Melbourne has it all. We visited a few galleries of modern and classical art, saw amazing examples of different types of architecture and couldn't help but notice the tantalizing smells emanating from restaurants representing countries from around the world.
Then there's the shopping... too broad a topic for now except to say ...
... at C restaurant on 33rd floor (so with fantastic views of the city) and then more drinks. My brief time in Perth finished on Thursday with Helen treating me to a lovely breakfast in Kings Park before taking me to the airport. Both of them felt I wasn't spending enough time there to do the city justice, but it was so important to me to catch up with them rather than sightseeing for once and I was pleased that I had made the time to meet with them. Today the tennis gets underway seriously. The organisers have been kind to us and we have had three days to acclimatise. However, now we must hit some balls in anger. Our first match is against the Newmarket team, often a formidable opponent. The match turns out to be close. Ronald and I win the opening rubber 8:6 but after being ahead and then behind.
