... got to Poschiavo - the town where Char's family is from, Dario took us for a walk around the town. Here we visited different places and Char was introduced to different people around town who all knew who she was haha. We visited the church where we were told a really cool story. Across the square from the church, there is a gated place which holds shelves of skulls. We were told that hundreds of years ago, people who had died in the town were buried ...
Didn't feel like Xmas when we woke up...no presents, no grandchildren to spoil...but after having a nice breakfast, the day took off!! Hopped on the Bernina Express for a train ride through the alps...stunning scenery...snow everywhere, mountains, glaciers, lakes. ... The ride up the mountain to St Moritz was amazing, especially driving thru the pass just as the sun was going down.. Hard to take photos out of the bus window, but I tried to capture the beauty.. Looking forward to seeing St Moritz in daylight... Snow on the streets, but not snowing and not expected to do so for a few days... Too bad we are leaving on Boxing Day... ... to take the rail car or gondola up the mountain to Piz Nair which is 3057 metres above sea level. We made the climb in 3 stages of rail cars, again with spectacular views as seen in the photos.
