Jakarta Day 106 (3rd September)

... to take it to the top of Monas to view Jakarta from above. The views were pretty cool, it reminded me of Beijing with the smog making buildings in the distance hard to see. Up here several locals wanted their pictures taking with me as I was the only foreigner there, I thought it was quite amusing and quite cool so I obliged, I felt like a famous person or something. After several pictures with different groups I met ...

Jakarta, capital of Indonesia

... apparently. Nonetheless, we liked it a lot. As we arrived on a midnight flight we pre-booked our cab for the hour long journey into town from the airport and pre-booked digs at a mid-budget hotel. We pre-book the cab due to the stories of cabbies all being up for it and secondly because when I enquire for a price online they quoted less than a tenner which is only about a quid over the going rate with a normal cab we've since learnt. Arrive at the airport ...

Bus Terminals in Bogor

... denn fahren!

Journey Home...

... yesterday!! The three of us had breakie together (Kate finally got her hot chocolate!) and then headed into town for a quick shop/internet. I went back to my very favourite jewelry store to purchase a necklace to match my ring - paid too much but I love it! Trev and I had one last ditch attempt (for me anyway) at a tan (pool w/ no sunscreen! :-)) - nothing! It was tough to say good bye to Trev and Kate as they headed on to Sanur at ...

Taman Mini Indonesia and more of Jakarta

... with alternating large houses and squatter huts. He has been living in the area for 30 years so he must have started with one large bungalow and expanded bit by bit. The layout of the house was haphazard and much need to be done to some areas but generally it was spacious and the largest statues and pots were lined outside with stone carvings copied from Borobudur. We had our case discussion first which were 3 spine cases so mostly answered by Jeff and Gamaliel, although I did ...

Out of the need of getting rid from hectic life in the office jungle, me and Ruth escaped to Bali. We invited Dede who currently stay in Perth to join us. With a Karimun and very nice driver, we visited many places which had never been touched in our previous visits to Bali. We visited Dreamland Beach, GWK, Ubud, etc. Enjoy sea food candle light dinner ...

The Last Eden on Earth

... from their aurborial skyscrapers. I was surprised to find that so many of the plants I had worked with in my years as an interior horticulturalist grew wild and untamed here. All those tropical plants trapped languishing in small pots in dark office corners or marbled boardrooms grow in massive abundance here--I found the shiny dark leaves of the Janet Craig, the tufted heads of marginatas, the fanned leaves of the raphis palm, the yellow ...
