Bharatpur, Rajasthan, India tonicastells... choosing their own new family and friends after quarantine and arrival. We saw the habitat built for the blind sloth bears, blind due to infection and abuse. Sid introduced us to Johnnie, the curious and friendly sloth bear. In showing us Guna, one of the largest sloth bears, we were pleased to meet the entertaining, charming, and extremely jealous Ravi. Ravi was hilarious as he wanted all the attention ...
Agra (35km north), Uttar Pradesh, India trent... be able to set our own pace and see the things we wanted, but it meant that we were constantly harassed by cycle rickshaw riders who kept telling us that it was a very long walk and surely we would prefer a ride. It was a bit off putting to be in a nice national park and still be hassled. Eventually, once we got far enough in, we did get some peace and quiet. The ...

The road is being widened and we regularly bounce around a new, unsurfaced section. At 7.45 we arrive in the small wedding town and pass the bridegroom's procession as it assembles, the groom in traditional Indian dress sitting on a horse. Reaching the large restaurant, where the festivities are being ...
Bharatpur, Rajasthan, India harryandnorahEN: After spending the morning visiting the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, we set off to Jaipur in Rajastan. On the way we stopped at Fathepur Sikri, just 37km out of Agra to visit the royal complex there. This walled city dates back to the 16th century and was the Mughal capital for 14 years. Although it was abandoned centuries ago (presumably due to lack of water), it is very well preserved. The Jami Masjid mosque, still in use today, is ...
Fatehpur Sikri, Uttar Pradesh, India aguas... and waved the few off who were heading out to the bird park (I had no interest in seeing it)... I hung out by the pool and chilled out with a few of the others before it got too hot. We met in the courtyard for a pre-dinner beverage which was welcoming... Dinner i had the mutton and it was great -- am missing meat as well.. We all heading off to bed pretty early as tomorrow is a bit exciting -- we head off to Agra -- home of the Taj!
Bharatpur, Rajasthan, India chooklotto... be on his best behaviour. What we hadn't anticipated was the sight of literally dozens of Sikhs, many wearing golden scarves, a number brandishing ceremonial swords, racing hell for leather down the platform in an attempt to secure the best seats for their journey to Amritsar. An amazing spectacle, almost worth the ticket price alone. We had been warned to wait for a tour rep to ease our passage through the station and it's lucky we did as the porters immediately initiated a heated ...
Bharatpur, India samuelkeys... s death, the city was abandoned mainly due to water shortages. But the existing city and monuments within bear proof to the great architectural minds and grandeur of the time. Fatehpur Sikri, India josie_ty... buried. It is quite impressive but we are on a tight schedule and move on to "the big one" quickly. The Taj Mahal... AMAZING! I discover that it was all built for one lady who was actually the second wife of Shah Jahan, and one of many. The greatest display of love, and the recently voted #1 wonder of the world, and he had a harem on the side as well! The marble inlay work is amazing and the size of the ...
