In the beginning......

... The conversations were halted when our table was surrounded by a local band who sang loudly and very badly for ages.

The next day, since our group had bonded so well over dinner, we all went our separate ways. I went to a couple of art galleries, where as usual a Mexican came up and talked me through the history of everything I was looking at. They really are a very useful bunch. Opposite the art gallery there was an exhibition called ´'Inquisition - instruments of torture ...

Margarita Day

... br>We went through security easily and then Roger wanted to take a look in one of the small souvenir stalls by the ship, so we all followed. We had a quick look round and Roger made yet another purchase and then we all had to join the growing queue to go back through security yet again. The others had stayed ashore a while longer and found another local bar for yet another margarita.

Back at our chosen spot on the ship we lounged ...

Arriba, arriba!

... not enough, I have signed up for the "Wrestling Tour" tonight which will complete my Mexican education. Tomorrow itself brings a reunion with three of my best friends in thew world - Sam Fletcher, James Buffoni and Morgan Stanley (a friend that provides three zeroes worth of credit with which I can do a huge amount of damage in Las Vegas) - which has been scheduled for 8 pm outside Caesar's Palace. I think that would make a good start to a very poor film...

... impressive. I wasn`t sure how I would take to it initially but it`s fair to say that I have really enjoyed it here. We fly out on Wednesday morning to Los Angeles and begin our final leg of the trip. This is our last few days as a five as Emily`s boyfriend Dave is flying out to meet us in LA and then James, Fianait and myself part ways with Emily and Sophie to start our journey East across the US and Canada. Will update again soon and fill you in on our adventures in the USA. Julianne x

Mexican border crossing

... in order to hit the duty free and get our Travel Cards. Well duty free was not a problem, however it was there that we were informed to get our travel cards on the other side of the border....what?! This went against everything we had read, but that was the only answer anyone would give us, so off to the border we went. We had also read that once we get to the border there will be a traffic signal to watch out for. If the light is green, you simply drive on and if ...

17th April: San Diego, Ensenada, The Pacific Ocean

... I was expecting him at any moment to declare "Butros, Butros galli!") while the music itself was a kind of traditional Mexican - all yabbering vocals, two-part trumpets and some surprisingly athletic tuba-playing. Now we really started to feel like we were most definitely on holiday! The three of us attempted to counter the Mexican music by singing our own song: We're all going on a cruise tomorrow, Cruise tomorrow ...

Cabo to los Muertos

New Year's Day we set out for La Paz. The wind was on the nose, so we mostly motor sailed, except for the 2 hours when we actually tried sailing. This had the effect of reducing our actual speed toward our destination to 2.5 knots and of making Cheryl immediately and violently seasick, so we reverted back to motor sailing. That night we anchored in Bahia de los Friales, a nice spot with fishing shacks, a small "hotel" (collection ...
