We took a LAN flight (flight number 9) to Santiago at 10:30am and we arrived after 2 hours.

Our hotel, Santiago Park Plaza is a beautiful hotel in the suburb of Providencia. The suburb is the rich part of Santiago so the doorman was a little surprised when we, 2 people looking like backpackers, said we …

Drama In Calama, Thieves Steal Our Backpack

We caught an overnighter bus from La Serena, bypassing Antofagasta and on to the waste of space Calama. The scenery was all boring, barren desert devoid of colour so we missed nothing by sleeping. The Pullman bus was a nightmare with tiny seats and rubbish strewn around. The toilet was so feral that they had to pull over and hose it out. We were …

... 243;polis. To give an order to the information, I'm going to separate the must visit áreas in the city in different sections: 1. Historic and government neighbourhoods: This area is where it all started. In a decent walking distance, you'll see the Government palace (called La Moneda which means "the coin"), the national library, the Santa Lucía hill (you can go up and get a nice view of the city, there's a lookout in the top of the hill which used to be a ...

Leaving the South

... we had to use had no queue. We were nearly on our way for the next leg of our holiday. As we were staying at the airport we had dinner at the hotel. There were no nearby restaurants to investigate. The meal was very good, beef for Barbara and lamb chops with risotto for Sue. Bed was early because we were getting up early for our flight to Lima but one piece of good news was that the hour was changing in Chile that evening to winter time so we had an extra hour in ...

48. Santiago - mine's a terremoto!

... match. It wasn't high scoring (1-0 to UE) but it was pretty decent football as it was like the equivalent of the Champions League. Tickets were hard to get online so we bought them from a guy outside the stadium for 10,000 pesos ($10 each) and he called his mate who let us through the turnstiles without checking that our ID matched - cheers! On our last day we took the funicular up to the top of a hill to say hola to the Holy Virgin and look over Santiago. Until the sun went ...

    Impeccable Service

    from

The best thing about this hotel is the service. I travelled with a large group and the other half of us missed the flight (thanks to the taxi-ing at the airport connections). Management was very understanding and did not charge the rooms for that night (unheard of!!!) The rooms are old world, very antique-y looking, we stayed in a suite that was very spacious and included an open bar! The daily laundry service was fantastic and has spoiled me forever. You will love the tree lined streets and the proximity to shopping and many fantastic attractions. Santiago is a beautiful city. The hotel restaurant was great for dinner as well. Highly recommended.

    Santiago Park Plaza Hotel

    from

A hotel to be highly recommended from Leonardo the concierge to Miguel the head waiter all staff make you feel at home, any requests are met with instant action. Hotel spotlessy clean. Antique furniture in reception. Welcome drink on arrival and a bottle of wine and fruit in room and we spent time in the hotel on three separate occasions within a three week period, and always a bottle of wine and free drink on arrival. Excellent restaurant menu for dinner although you had to ask for breakfast toast.

    A Gem

    from

A friend & I stayed here for two nights. We booked one night at the Weekend rate and another at the Best Friends rate which entitled us to a massage & manicure each plus lots of other goodies. Neighborhood & hotel location is great. Staff is professional, friendly and eager to please. For $24 we were driven to airport in hotel car. Only downside food in dining room is uneven.

    Not worth a second night...

    from

This hotel has some positives, and it has some negatives.

Positives include the friendly staff and rooftop glassed-in pool (teenie tiny) plus sauna.

Negatives, however, include an inability to process reservations made online over the weekend, and drab, uninspiring rooms. When we arrived, neither our room nor any of the rooms on our floor were equipped with chairs. NO CHAIRS!

Would not recommend it, despite the nice pool. Canceled my reservation for my second night.

    Well-located hotel with excellent service

    from

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 3 days last month (Feb '06) after completing a cruise that began in Buenos Aires. We booked a promotional rate for the room in US dollars on the hotel's website of $125 per night (there were no additional taxes) after reading favorable reviews on TripAdvisor and in Frommer's Guide. This rate included a breakfast buffet for 2 and 2 welcome drinks (Pisco Sours). The hotel was air conditioned and had European style service -- when we arrived in our room, there was a complimentary half bottle of Chilean wine and some pieces of fruit. The fruit was replaced every day during our stay. There were terry robes and slippers. There was a small indoor roof top pool. The hotel was in the Providencia section and well located--just a couple of blocks from the Los Leones Metro station. We would stay here again, have no complaints, and thought the value was very good.

As perfect as a hotel can be.

    from

This hotel was absolutely outstanding. Both the location and every aspect of the hotel itself. IT is located on a tree lined street and that is the view out of your window., But 100 feet way is the center of the Providential area with great shopping, restaurants and nightlife. Also downstairs is a great coffe/ice cream restaurant with patio seating where you can spend hours eating their 30 flavors of ice-cream and people watching. The hotel is a block from the metro and you can take long walks downtown and to the Buena Vista and Los Condes areas.

    Lovely Place. Good Value.

    from

I stayed at the Park Plaza in Santiago for 3 days with my husband in December of 2005. The hotel is in no way luxurious, but it is nice, traditional and in a great location.

A great value for what we paid ...US $100 per night.

The service was great, and they arranged the transfer from the airport for us and billed it to the room.

Some of the tours they offered were a bit pricey, but I shopped around and found others I prefered prior to getting there.

    Overall a pleasant stay.

Also ... very nice to have a rooftop pool to come back to after wandering the city on a hot day.

Santiago Park Plaza was a Great Find

    from

The Santiago Park Plaza is a wonderful hotel in the up scale residential district of Providencia where you can walk to shopping and restaurants. Although I was there on business trip, I am planning a vacation and will probably stay at the Park Plaza again. During my recent three day visit, I stayed in a Park Club room on a high floor. The room was very nicely decorated and spacious and in keeping with a first class hotel. The lobby is nicely appointed and the hotel staff very friendly and helpful. I needed a car service to go to a business appointment and they arranged for me to be driven to my meeting and then picked up in downtown Santiago after the meeting. Very nice restaurant and, as I had booked my reservation on-line, I also received a complimentary dinner one evening. I have stayed at the Hyatt Las Condes and Sheraton Towers in Santiago both of which are very nice hotels but the Santiago Park Plaza is in my opinion much better located with lovely rooms and excellent service (and not as pricey as the other two).

    Highly Recommended

    from

This is a nice hotel, but it really shines when it comes to Customer Service. I emailed the hotel to see if they would match a cheaper rate on Travelocity. They did so and included return transfers. Breakfasts also included. When we arrived we were treated like royalty and always met with a friendly smile.

Rooms are very tidy and what you would expect from a 3-4 star business hotel. Great Location with easy access to the tourist part of town.

    Highly recommended!

    Nice hotel, service excellent

    from

The location of the Park Plaza is great, in Providencia. The hotel is clean and rooms are a good size. We paid very little for a 2 night stay and felt like we had excellent value for money. The staff here are great, they helped us with so many things. LanChile lost our luggage, the staff at the Plaza helped us track it down and get it delivered. Recommend staying here, so welcoming.
