... is still a big hotel at the top of the hill with amazing 180 degree views of the coast - but it is now completely derelict. We air wheeled up there to explore and it's a real shame that it is no longer used as it is in a fantastic location - and apparently it used to have a swimming pool on the roof too ! We were also lucky to have another nice sunset down on the beach so yet more sunset photies coming up ...

... As you can see from the map we are on the edge of a national park, so the scenery around us is fantastic, and not what we expected. We headed North, on what can only be described as a "James Bond" type road - lots of wiggles, tunnels, and the obligatory Italian driver overtaking at every opportunity. ... we thought we had booked room only.....and he tells us that the room rate is Euro 20 less than we had been quoted.....fantastic!!

Later we wander onto the seafront and enjoy a good meal, in the open-air, at the Incontro Restaurant. As we are leaving it starts to rain quite heavily....... we shelter for a few minutes then run back to the hotel thankfully without getting too wet!

A prospect of four trains today was reduced to three as we had negotiated with Katia for her father to kindly give us a lift to Martina Franca instead of the proposed train as our connection was incredibly tight and we couldn't afford to miss our ongoing train to Taranto. From there, another train to Salerno where we then pick up a final train to Taormina. The whole journey would last the whole day and it was all about timings. I had enjoyed our time ...

I have arrived! It was a long flight without too much sleep, but fairly uneventful. The first thing I met in Naples were stairs. In an airport, with two bags. Several flights of stairs, and this is a large airport! What happened to escalators? I have heard you do a lot of stairs in Italy, but I didn't expect them in the airport! Once upstairs, I wandered around a bit trying to find a certain restaurant where I was supposed to meet ...
