We arrived in this beautiful city at dusk so we weren't able to get the most out of it. Stayed there only for one hour and we spent that time in Parco Civico capturing the flickering lights of the city surrounded by mountains. The view from the shores of Lake Lugano was fascinating. It's truly a must-visit city and I'd love to go back and see it in broad daylight. ...

I had stayed at Lake Maggiore when I was a kid and it was something I remembered as a quiet and beautiful place. Of course things change but I wanted to see if I could make it up there and stay the night.

Besides the ski lifts were not going so we would have had to do a lot of sidestepping to ski anywhere else! Meg's problem was not really that she forgot what to do, but that she was overconfident and went to the top of the beginner area, which is really quite ...

... then sitting in a nice garden park for a while. Bought some bananas (from Chile) for brekkie, back up to our room briefly then off to Baveno (Lake Maggiore) for dinner. Meeting up with Jayne and Pete Hotchkis for dinner; she's an old friend from Canberra and they're on a tour through Italy too. Baveno is only a 20 minute drive. Their hotel is right on the water, and pretty posh! Everything in the grand European style; beautiful lounge, bar and balcony area. Maggiore is ...
