Sentimenti contrastanti.

Tee muutub käänuliseks, külad on asetatud järjest rohkem vertikaali. Meenutab mõningal määral Dalati ümbrust Vietnamis. Dharamsala, mis samuti on pikk tänav, kus müügimeeste konsentratsioon on suurem kui enne, lisaks mõned tiibeti näod, läbime peatumata, et trügida siia-sinna mööda McLeod Ganj'i - 9 km edasi asuvat küla ...

... run by a group of monks. It's pretty basic, our room has three beds and a fan, and we don't have our own bathroom. But, at 100 rupees a night each, it's not bad going. I am about to head back there now to get changed before a nice nice dinner.

We spent a fair amount of time perusing the shops today, dragging Terry around with us (which was amusing to say the least) and then visited ...

The Sacred Rewalsar Lake

... before leaving. At this point there were maybe 10 people on the bus. Then as we headed up the hill to the lake, 2 or 3 Indian families would get on at each bus stop. At one point there was absolutely no space for another person to sit or stand on the bus, so people started crawling up the sides and sitting on top of the bus. It was insane! We had never seen anything like it.
Once we got to Rewalsar, we went to Hotel Lotus Lake, (which happened to ...

More soon, I promise

We finally arrived in McLeod Ganj (where you are almost certainly really going when you say you're going to Dharamsala) after one of the worse spells of travel I have ever encountered. (Me: Well, we should probably sleep on this train, or we'll want to kill ourselves later. Kate: Wait, later?) which involved two state-buses, and overnight train, a 24 hour fast, a robbery and some new Israeli friends. I wrote it all up last night ...

The Power of Christ Compells You

... despite the fact that I refused to let him carry it, and I had to hold up the luggage compartment door for him whilst he placed it in, which was made from wrought iron and weighed more than I imagined any door could. When I took my bag out when we got to Mandi it looked like a travellers bag that had seen 6 months use already, not the 6 days its actually had. It was covered in **** and dust and I banged my bald head on the **** door whilst getting it. The ...

Both there for the summer to earn $ we swaped many stories about the differences of life in Tamil Nadu and other parts of India! It was too soon before we had our last Momo's, said bye to Simon and boarded the next night bus to McLeod Ganj, Dalai Lama we're coming!

Manali - Himachal Pradesh

... it is in reverse to let a large bus get through!). We were glad that we had chosen to fly to Kullu, instead of taking the 20-hour bus from Delhi! Once in Manali, we did our best to avoid the main tourist area and were pleased that our hotel (the Shingar Regency) was perched on a hilltop out of the town center. It also featured a beautiful view of the mountains and valley below. We quickly arranged for a mountain guide and set out for a day of hiking ...

Day 54 - Farewell at the Ashram

Sorry folks, there hasn't been much in the way of updates lately over the last few days but have been going to satsang / meditation every day which only consumes only 2 hours of actual time by seems to suck up the whole day with preparation before - some reading and a short meditation and then after satsang there's lunch and discussion with friends and then the rest of the day is spent digesting and processing all the information that's been ...
