Today is our LAST DAY at Nakayama! :( We just spent the morning packing up a bit and walking and lounging around as everyone was so tired from our last couple of big days. ... It was so much fun! Then we got to the top of the mountain and the castle was awaiting. It was humongous! There was this massive wall surrounding the lower part of it that was all made of stone. ... then you could pick out the envelopes with your name on it. I received 5 envelopes and got ¥11, 000! Next we went out to lunch at a local restaurant, Hananomori Hotel, on top of a mountain with lots of people. This was to celebrate the new year too. ... we headed over to our 2nd cousins house to make omochi, a Japanese New Years specialty. First you put streamed rice into a concrete pot and then add some water to it. You then smash it with the wooden hammer-like thing while constantly adding water until it makes kind of a gluey paste. This takes maybe 20 minutes.
