Ok I know there is going to miscommunications between people but this one was big. I'm not going to go into detail but a 3 hour bus rid to hang out with some friends for the night turned into a 10 hour ride jammed in a suv with 7 others to go to a WEDDING! Ok, I don't have any nice cloths with me and I wasn't planning on 10 hours in a car. At least I got some free food.
Culiacan, Mexico macrosse1... seņoras took us to her brotherīs farm where his wife fed us delicious steaming tamales and fresh tortillas, which we ate surrounded by cats, dogs, chickens, donkeys, pigs and turkeys. The meal was interrupted several times, first when I felt a piglet licking my bare foot and flew half away across the yard in terror (well, might have been a snake after all), then when Seņora Hilda, who was animatedly gestulating mid-story had her taco ...
Guasave, Northern Mexico, Mexico lisaviro1981... hours to rest and whisked off to be presented properly to my other cousin Margotīs new in-laws. A Mexican baptism is a cause for great celebration, not only for the childs inclusion into the scared realms of the Holy Catholic Church, but also as yet another opportunity to imbibe vast quantities of alcohol surrounded by friends and family. The baby was thoughtfully tucked under the shade of tree while itīs nearest and dearest ...
Guasave, Northern Mexico, Mexico lisaviro1981... on the premises, nor are there any restaurants within walking distance...but not to worry, they did have room service available. Ok...fine. I was starving (all I had was prison slop on the Ferry 8 hours earlier) and was pouring sweat -- we had already ridden from La Paz to the Pichilengue, crossed the Cortez, re-packed, and ridden another 155 miles to this Wallyworld Motel. It was time for this day to end! Flash forward 60 minutes.....Room service my ass! It ...
Culiacan, Mexico jessandmalin... him to the staton and he gave it back. he then started saying something about how we wouldn't have to pay any money here or in town and asked for something else instead. we had no idea what it was he wanted but eventually he asked for $5 and let us go. that night on the beach in el dorado i felt a bit unnerved as we were very isolated and miles from anywhere and people kept coming for short periods. we imagined intimate encounters and dodgy drug deals and tried to sleep.
El dorado, Mexico 2monkeys... the door step (that looked lilke an accordion) but we... Ian... managed to repair everything with a good old hammer. The park was built around a lagoon and was a fairly extensive water park and villas complex. We noticed many beautiful birds and the funniest thing. We were there in a huge fenced park all alone with the overnight security guard. Bon, enough for this one! Bye people, Eugie
Culiacan, Mexico bohemianeugOn the way to Mexico City, the bus made several stops at many villages along the way. Some very interesting... Consisting of: San Ysidro, Tijuana, Mexicali, Sonoyta, Caborca, Altar, Santa Ana, Hermosillo, Obregon, Navojoa, Los Mochis, Guasave, Culiacan, Mazatlan, Tepic, La Piedad, Querataro. We havn't seen a caucasian in days ...
Culiacan, Mexico clintonb... happy. Ahh the trip! A great little trip really. Loads of mountains with huge amouts of varied tree life (luke- many trees!!! LOTS!), i also saw loads of either small eagles, or big hawk type things, swooping and diving in the general way birds of prey do. Acapulco is ok. No surf gets into this bay though so im off to Purto Escondido tommorow which has a world class beach break apparently. Not meaning to scare any of my family but ...
Acapulco, Mexico chalk... finding the only open trailer park was not difficult, with the help of 'ontheroadin.com' and their excellent maps. However the park was locked up for the night. Well, not quite.... the gate was only chained, not locked. In we went, and a restful, rooster infested night was enjoyed.
Los Mochis, Mexico ddgfraser... but comfortable. I was brave enough to check with the station that I was sat on the right side of the train (apparently better for the views - good old guidebook) and I was. The, as the sun rose, we pulled out of Los Mochis and headed for the hills. Iīll update on the journey in the next blog, so I can put a map pin in. Before I forget - thanks to everyone for the messages, texts, emails - it has been great to hear your news too. Take care CASxx
