    ... with us having wine and ice cream with their family. We could not thank them enough for taking so much of their time to show us around Paris. Good people FTW!!! My Mom and I look forward to returning the hospitality when they visit San Francsico.

    ... invigorated we want to check the David queue once more, just in case...YES! Much reduced, so we join queue, which feels like a torture for the tourists. Blazing sunshine..the sweat just drips off you & can't believe nobody faints! However after 45 mins we're in. Well worth returning too. To think David is 500 yrs old is astonishing...he is also so HUGE!

    back to the farmhouse around 8 pm...lie-in tomorrow methinks...

    After leaving Cortona we slipped briefly out of Tuscany to visit nearby Assisi in the province of Perugia. Resting place for St Francis it was sombre to visit his tomb under the church there, however the rest of the town has been transformed into a religious tourist destination. What said it all was the carousel outside one of the churches that was adorned with religious motifs...note the Francescan monks in the background. ...

    October 7: Today we went on a private Fazi-Battaglia Winery tour. This winery is renowned for a special type of white grape and the shape of their bottle. We got especially lucky as they were harvesting the grapes today.
