... stop for me is Villa Carlotta which is a villa and a lovely garden. 9 euro. Back in the boat to Bellagio. Another beautiful town. I have lunch here. I have a buffet which is disappointing. You actually have to use a microwave to heat things if you want them hot. Didn't realise this to start with. You can go back 3 times (primo, secondi and dessert). Cost 15euro including a glass of wine. Back on the boat ...

I can't see so many olive trees though and there's a lot more grape vines. It still all looks very beautiful. Can't say for sure but the soil looks a lot more sandier than ...

So we have been in Oggiono a few days now and it has not been the best weather. On Thursday we went into Lecco which is the nearest big town and we had been told that it was very pretty. It did look quite nice as it was on a lake with a nice view and there was a walkway along it. The rain ruined it a bit though and the fog made it hard to see the mountains in the distance. Most of the shops were closed there too so we didn't stay all that long before we headed back to warm ...

... as "hair raising" - this is when a big bus, narrow road, Dutch bus driver and Italian drivers meet in a perfect storm. We passed through the storm unscathed. The views were fantastic, The boat ride was sedate compared to our fun Rotterdam water taxi. We saw the villa where StarWars was filmed and enjoyed our first pasta (made with buckwheat). Now back at the hotel - Meghan writing postcards and in her journal. ...
