Basic, comfortable accommodation in the heart of the Historico Districto. Great courtyard area with plenty of plants and old world charm. Secure premises and welcoming, accommodating staff. Wi-Fi isn't always received in the rooms but is easily accessible in the courtyard or on the two provided PCs.

      Excellent travelers hotel

Excellent, charming old hotel in Quito's historic center. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel provides a lot of services that are indispensable to travelers and most are included in the nightly room rate. We traveled in Ecuador for 6 weeks and repeatedly came back to this hotel when going through Quito.

      Ausgezeichnetes Reisehotel

We found the hotel to be very comfortable, the employees to be very helpful, the hotel is very clean, and the location in old town perfect. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anybody staying in Quito.

      One of our favorite hotels

My husband and I loved this hotel, and even added on three extra days. We had a beautiful room with lots of windows and were impressed by the services, amenities and non-chainlike decor.

Charm and Comfort at Hotel San Francisco de Quito

I'm an Autralian who had a great experience with the Hotel San Francisco de Quito in the old city of Quito. It is a beautiful colonial style building with many levels, each with little sun gardens and flowers. It was a charming mix of old and new. We actually stayed a week in the top floor apartment which had a full kitchen and views over the city.

After one week I discovered that they have a huge indoor spa and sauna room which was great for the chilly Quito nights. Downstairs is a quiet courtyard with a lovely restaurant.

I thought the old city was a much nicer to place to stay than the busy new city. It was much mellower, had a sense of character, and was close to all of the major churches and plazas.

The main reason that I've taken the time to review this hotel is my love for the family that works there. They looked after us like we were also family, including my 2 year old son who was running riot. On my second visit to the hotel I developed Malaria whilst my wife and son were out of town. One of the family came to the hospital and put her credit card down for me so that I could be admitted (I only had cash on me).

If you are heading or Quito and looking for a comfortable, charming place with great staff, the Hotel San Francisco is a great option.

Having had an extra night in Dallas, it was time to head back to the airport in the morning to catch my re-scheduled flight to Atlanta. Quito - First Impressions

A travel blog entry by ngjourney on Oct 08, 2014

It is said that you can experience all four seasons in one day in Quito, and the city lived up to that straight after our arrival. The weather was great when we left the airport, but a thick layer of pitch dark clouds formed very quickly after. I have never seen clouds any close in darkness in Seattle. It almost looked like a huge cloud of smoke …

Found an amazing pizzeria in old town quito. It seems to be a thing here to add business cards and messages under the table tops here.. So who am I to break with tradition?! I have added my own message and gratitude to this place... Australian style! I have also thoroughly enjoyed the sangria on offer :) ¡mucho gracias!

I successfully arrived in Quito! I got a newspaper on the flight to Lima, Peru with a large Deportes (Sports) section about the World Cup in it. That made me very happy, though it took me awhile to read because it was in Spanish. Quito is at a very high altitude which makes the air thinner. Climbing stairs & walking briskly has me huffing & …
