    Road Trip to Bologna Airport

    ... all the towels, etc.. she was thoroughly touched and I think she said we didn't need to do it!
    The kids made their garbage walk .. taking all the bags to the bins down the street. On their way, they saw a hedgehog and porcupine on the road... I think that was the last resting place for both of the animals... pretty sure they were dead. We took our finally group pic and off we headed. Evan drove with Carly& Cory.

    ... to Rimini ( which is about half hour or so away) turns around and now heading to a smaller town closer to the Adriatic sea- Ravenna.. about 40 min away to the Hertz there. Meanwhile I get a call from roadside assistance.. there are no available cars in Ravenna so once we get there, we have to take a taxi back to Bologna!! ( that's about 1 hr back to Hertz airport location)... so much for all my preplanning to arrive in Urbania before nightfall. ...

    Off into the night- Urbania here we come

    ... local lady who SPOKE SOME ENGLISH... and had the same stick shift as our car... she gets into the car to put it in reverse ( meanwhile 2 more cars come from the other direction going slowly... the lady gets the VW turned around and we follow her to our turn off...No words spoken .. mom and I know that "someone" was looking after us ( plus the 8 bottles of Holy Water " from the Vatican in our suitcase probably helped too! We honk several times ...

    ... with tomato meat sauce (Bolognese). I didnt know tortellini is a special local food from Bologna but my choice was the best. Even though the price was way too expensive for only tortellini, salad and coke - 26€. Just waked a bit of town after late meal and tried to find a supermarket to buy salads and water. After that, just came back to the B&B place then enjoyed chilling in my big double bed ...

I now get when Luca said he felt strange when he went to a place like the USA where everything is new -- in the same way that finding myself in a place like Bologna felt surreal: the place is a living, breathing museum yet the people are so cosmopolitan, liberal and forward ...
