... straw so we could drink the refreshing coconut water. This was followed by a delicious lunch (my three companions were pleased that beer was even offered). The boats had to dock by 5:30 pm so that gave us lots of time to walk along the shore and observe village life before returning to a tasty dinner. We decided to have an early lunch, fish again, wonderful flavours and ...

Air conditioned buses leave at 3.30 for Varkala. Bit of Luxury. Next bay is quite a bit more remote. Walk a couple of K,s past the exclusive Taj hotel complete with private beach and beach bar. ( no mugs here ). Worked out at about £100 per night. Cheap really. Incredibly hot, ...

... bit after a few remarks about their economy, Greece and Cyprus, they relented and put in the princely sum of 20 rupees each, a quid, )

When we arrived, we were given our ‘badges’ telling everyone we had done ‘our bit’ for the parade

We were given pride of place at the head of our floats and in front of the drummers, the 4 floats bringing up the rear behind them

I guess there was around 50 floats, ...
