... and bathed a lot! The dust from Boom took a long time to wash off and we were a lot more worn out than we had realised.
Once the van was back on the road we headed to Lanjaron, Dans home on the mountain. Sadly about an hour outside the town we blew another tyre luckily next to a garage and as a tyre repair van drove in. You just can't make this stuff up! A few hours later we were back up and running and made it to Lanjaron in one piece.

Up to Portugal's top spot - El Torre
... to really reach Covilha's centre steeply uphills. A passerby recommends us Hotel Solneve and we would not be deceived.
We plan to take a taxi the next day to bring us up to the top of Torre (return trip 20 EUR) for a hike. It is cool up there and we enjoy the distant view as much as the relaxation for our butts.
Recommendation: Marisqueria "A Tareira" - "Arroz a Mariscos en Tamboril" for 20 EUR

Idanha-a-Nova off-piste again
... on a hiking trail, partly to push our bikes under the burning sun. We cross some pasture gates, need to make cows step beside, ride through cow dung - you get the picture. We end up at the foot of the dam wall, struggle uphills again and are happy to see tarmac back again. We would have an adventurous last day's hike up onto Monsanto but reaching Medelim at 6pm it is quite clear that we won't make it.
