    ... guy who has now been resident near Firenze for some years and is a keen dealer in "collector cars", so we had a fair bit in common and shared a zillion photos.
    Tomorrow, I am told we have an appointment in Milano, which is a fair way from where I was aiming for, the CinqueTerra coastal towns . Maybe after Milano.....

    Today we took the SLOW train to Riomaggiore. The train to our transfer spot, St Stefan had about 6 cars and was the oldest looking train we had ever seen. It stopped at little stations about every 10 mins. You get what you pay for. But again it left right on time. Another new experience. Before the train, we splurged on the hotel breakfast. We had been eating food we bought, in our room but today we knew we would be on the train for lunch. ...

    ... enthusiasm for museums, we could probably have spent one less day in each of the three cities so far. But the leisurely pace has meant that we have had lots of time to just wander and ponder, my idea of a good vacation.     ... I could eat 6 times a day! As lunch finished, I realized that this was the restaurant we have reservations for this evening. What a lucky coincidence. We are looking forward to what I am sure will be a delicious dinner. But we did more than just eat today. We visited the Cathedral with its gorgeous frescoes covering practically 100% of the walls and ceilings, the Baptistry which is reminiscent of the ones in Pisa ...

    ... it has been an honor system. You heave your bags up two or thee steps. There may be a luggage area, or not. Fortunately this car has a luggage area as the car is quite full so it would be awkward to keep the luggage at your seat. We are in the only no smoking car. Quite an eclectic mix of people. Lots of languages, tourists, Italian families (school is out) and all ages. We seem to be travelling out of the bowl of the mountains which protect Verona. The land is flat ...
