... up the steps as the train pulls in and disgorges commuters down the same steps ... "Oops, pardon madame, monsieur ... COMING THROUGH!!!" With people scattering around me I launched myself and bike through an open train door as the conductor blew his whistle ... and still had just enough time to check it was the right train!

Phew, needed to get my heart rate back down while reflecting on just how heavy the bike is - fully laden, just over 30kgs. ...

... Dordogne. We are now back to a spot where we biked past a few days ago having completed a large loop.

I`ve included a picture of a small memorial plaque that is a good example of what we have seen in every small village. On it are the names of the people killed in both wars. But there are often separate and distinct plaques and mention where groups of people were massacred by the Nazis. Because the area is so old and was not significantly destroyed in the wars, we forget ...

We left the west coast and headed inland to look for work. We stopped at Angouleme for lunch which had a spectacular view from the old city. We carried on into the Dordogne, and looking for a campsite came across a municipal site in a little town called Argentat-sur-Dordogne. The weather was stifling hot, which that night brought on 24 hours of massive thunderstorms and then 3 days of rain! The Dordogne was flooding and even Argentat lost electricity one ...

Errff -- I can't remember which town I wrote about last time. Guess that's the trouble with doing most of your travel writing once you're actually home from your trip!
