    For the last few days we have had a magnificent view of Mt Etna from our camper and like Mt Taranaki, Mt Fuji and similar cone shaped mountains it is often hidden by cloud cover.

    We travelled via Cefalin, a former fishing village, and visited the cathedral there, then we had lunch at Miraglia Forest where the restaurant is part of a farm. We walked down the long driveway lined with pines and past some pigs, (whose relatives were on the menu).     Due to bad weather - rain and wind - something we are not used to, we drove from the 'instep' of Italy to the 'toe' (Sicily) including the 30 minute ferry crossing.
    The weather improved around 3pm when we arrived in Messina. Our first camp should have been a 90min drive south but took longer, we arrived near dusk to find it was only a day park. Getting there had been quite a challenge up steep windy narrow roads ...
