Historical Traveler Reviews of Hotel Saint Michael Paris

Will definitely be back!

from A TripAdvisor Member
A charming hotel in an excellent location. Stayed for 3 nights over the holiday season and enjoyed this quiet, clean hotel as a base in my favourite city in the world. After staying in several 2 and 3 star hotels over the years, Hotel de Notre Dame is definitely the best so far - and I look forward to future stays.

What a Great Find!!!

After being unable to make reservation in Sept. 2004 on the Ile St. Louis, my search turned up the Hotel De Notre Dame. It was perfect for our needs: Nice quiet one way street, just a peek around the bend to Notre Dame, very quaint. We were very pleased and will definitely stay here again.

The perfect charming Paris hotel!!

My husband and I were looking for a romantic and charming hotel for our to Paris over Thanksgiving. The staff was helpful and pleasant and the rooms were cozy and romantic. Not only was the Hotel de Notre Dame perfectly located in the center of the city, it exceeded our expectations in every aspect....

Just Perfect!

This was the best hotel we've stayed at in Paris. Very quiet, a friendly and helpful staff, great restaurants very close by and the location (1/2 block from Notre Dame) was exceptional. A taxi stand just around the corner made getting around so easy and being just a couple of blocks from the student district made evening walks a joy. HIGHLY recommended. Located at 19 Maitre Albert.

Fabulous experience here

This nice little hotel is about 100 yards from the Seine, the Iles and so many sites one wants to see in central Paris. Walk out the front door and there are the towers of Notre Dame! You can't beat the location. Our room faced the river and was no smaller than one expects in a Paris 3-star. The bath was modern and large. Clean room was well appointed with built-in cabinets and desk...kind of Ikea-syle. Courteous staff...we skipped the breakfast. The Maubert metro isn't the most convenient stop, but St. Michel isn't far away. We were two ladies...and we felt perfectly safe in this neighborhood.

This was our 2nd hotel in Paris. We travelled in the countryside for a week b/4 coming back here. Madame allowed us to store excess baggage at the hotel awaiting our return.

I am an early-morning walker. I loved traipsing through the Iles and Marais area while cafe owners washed down their sidewalks and bakers filled the streets with succulent aromas. That time of morning, the monuments and buildings are still night-lit and beautifully reflected in the just-washed streets. Do yourself a favor and see Paris before sunrise at least once while you're there!

Loved it

This Hotel has everything going for it, Location, Friendly staff, price and did I mention Location !!!! The hotel is very clean inside and out, rooms are small but for the price there is really nothing to complain about. I spent a week here with my husband and we both agree that when we visit Paris again we will definitely stay here. Remember breakfast is an expensive supplement here so go pick up some creps and fruit cheaper from near by venders and have a lovely breakfast in the park behind Notre Dame watching the world go by ............

In the shadow of Notre Dame

This is a good small, 3 * hotel on a quiet side street between Quai de la Tournelle and Place Maubert. The location is very central with easy walking access to many tourist sites, and it is close to a metro stop, caf?s and some pretty good restaurants. It is on the left bank across from Notre Dame.As with many Paris hotels, the rooms are very small but my room was clean, quiet and comfortable which is all that really counts. I have stayed in many different hotels in Paris and I still have not found the perfect hotel, but this one was good enough that I would stay there again.

Hotel de Notre Dame : setting the record straight

The Hotel de Notre Dame on rue Maitre-Albert is one of my very favorite hotels in Paris. My wife and I have stayed there now well over a dozen times.I see reviews that confuse this hotel with the Notre Dame Hotel on the Quai Michel. There are many hotels in Paris with Notre Dame in their name. The Hotel de Notre Dame (on rue Maitre-Albert) is small, secure, charming, staffed by VERY COOPERATIVE people, very well located a block away from the river and from the traffic noise, and reasonably priced.

Romantic location

I have stayed at the Notre Dame twice. I love to get the Metro from the airport and get off right in front of Notre Dame, from where it's a 5 minute walk up the Quai de Montebello and right into the Rue de Maitre Albert. The hotel, in a historic building, is at the turn of the small and quite Street.

The lobby and breakfast room are tastefully decorated; and the staff is friendly, they all speak English. The rooms are small and by no means luxurious, but have charm.

The hotel is right across the Ile de la Cite and the Ile Saint Louis, you can hear Notre Dame's bells chiming through your windows. An aditional attraction is that there are some terrific restaurants close by. I can't wait to go back to this hotel on my next visit to Paris.

Location, Location, Location... and Low Rates

I can't say enough about what a perfect location the Hotel de Notre Dame has! (Don't get this mixed up with the larger-- and nearby-- Hotel *LE* Notre Dame.) It's on the Left Bank but doesn't have the sky-hi rates as its neighbor hotels. The hotel is less than one block from the Seine and Notre Dame. The energy, bustle, and liveliness of the Latin Quarter is literally around the corner on Saint Germain Boulevard. Thankfully, though, the hotel is on a quiet, one-way side street. The city metro stop is around the corner. You can take the RER train from the airport to the "St. Michel-Notre Dame" stop; but it's a ten minute walk from there. I loved the walk through tiny side streets, seeing the real Paris... but it's only for those who don't mind the distance. The Louvre and the Musee d'Orsay are both an easy walk. The Bastille area is a bit further but the variety of restaraunts is definitely worth the walk or a ride on the metro (I highly recommend Bofinger-- excellent food and service). With only one late-night exception, the front desk staff at the hotel all spoke English (although it always makes a difference if you begin with a "Bonjour" or "Bonsoir" rather than jump right into English). Since you are so close to Notre Dame, you get to hear the bells every hour-- really made you feel like you were in Europe! The hotel breakfast was reasonable-- orange juice, croissant, roll and a pot of the strongest, tastiest coffee you will ever drink. I guarantee that Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts coffee will taste like water after you have coffee in Paris. If you are at the hotel on a weekend, don't miss the open market around the corner-- neat souvineers and the freshest cheese, veggies, meats, etc. Next time I'm in Paris I will definitely stay at the Hotel de Notre Dame.
