      ... with 1200 meters of elevation gain. This is just entirely too daunting to consider and in my mind could jeopardize the rest of the trip. Fortunately someone has developed an aubergue (hostel), in recent years, at kilometre 8 after 600 meters of elevation gain.       That was all fine until I decided that I wasn't quite sure where to go next, then Mitch's eagle eyes spotted some taxis parked up. After using my best (not very good) French to ask the taxi driver how far away our hotel was we were told by him it was only 200m up the road and he pointed us in the right direction.
