Julie was as refreshed as I'd been invigorated by the short walk but we were soon in the bar and sitting on the Paradore first floor full length balcony gazing out onto our southern view as the twilight brought on an ever changing outlook of the mountain views before and to either side of us.     ... is a wax model of Bernadette with a couple of sheep, that appear to be moulting. The advertising promises a trip through time, and up five flight s of steps, with everything from the story of Bernadette to the most significant in the life of Christ. A wax copy Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper will stay with me forever. Despite my scepticism, the wax models were very realistic and the commentary was very good . . . could have been worse!

    ... used as a 'door', a piece of frayed rope. We all survived and I now have some idea of where things are.
    I heard the most beautiful singing coming from one of the churches. I popped in to be in time for mass at the ROSARY. It was being celebrated in French but I seemed to be more 'in tune' than the one at Notre Dame last week. This church is beautiful and has the most glorious mosaics adorning the ceiling.

    The Tormalet is called the giant of the Pyrenees for a reason. It is long and steep from both sides. From this side the last 9 or 10km are a steady 8-10% which is tough when, by the time you reach the top, you will have climbed 3600+m. In short, I didn’t have much left.
